Gov Corzine appears to be at it again. His latest hairbrain scheme is to tax Internet Music Sales (like Apple's iTunes) in an effort to close the states fiscal budget. Internet sales for the most part are covered under the rule that does not allow for the collection of Interstate Taxes, but Corzine sees this as an opportunity, expecting it to garner little in the way of opposition.
A full article on the story can be found here.
However, if this passes, it will start a slippery slope of taxation that I am sure many Internet (and even mail order comapanies) will oppose as it will reduce one of the competetive benefits these comapanies have over standard brick and mortar as well as big box retailers.
Like his much maligned plan to turn NJ into a Self-Serve Gas State, the Governor appears to be barking up the wrong tree again, and may very well (deservedly) get his ears slapped back once again. |
