Selling NJ off piece by piece |
| According to a recent article in the Asbury Park Press, a Merrill Lynch study shows New Jersey could make as much as $30 billion by selling the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.
First of all, who requested and paid for this study. And second... WHY?
New Jersey has (as have many other locations to be fair) sold off the naming rights to every sports and entertainment venue it could.
Now they want to start selling off the major arteries of the State? Why? The Private entities that would purchase these roadways, would pay $30 billion dollars to the State, why, out of generosity? Do you think they plan to acquire these assets and LOSE money? Of course not.
These roads will just keep raising tolls to astronomically stupid rates. This completely flies in the face of the attempts to REDUCE tolls on the Garden State Parkway.
We need politicians to get a clue before it is too late, and stop spending money foolishly looking for short term fixes. |
